The gorge stretches for 1.5 miles with lush woodlands and cascading waterfalls, including the 100-foot Whitelady Waterfall and the Devil's Cauldron, a swirling whirlpool. Legend has it, the gorge was once haunted by a ghostly monk.
In medieval times, the village of Lydford was infamous for its harsh justice system, inspiring the phrase "Lydford Law," meaning swift and brutal justice.
